AYP-SRHR Champions

Empowering Adolescents and Young People as Sexual and Reproductive Health Rights Champions

AYP Champions

About the Program

The AYP-SRHR Champions program has identified and trained 35 adolescents and young people as sexual and reproductive health champions from across Bungoma county with representatives from all subcounties.

The project is being implemented in partnership with UNAIDS and the National Syndemic Disease Control Council (NSDCC).

Our goal is to promote peer-to-peer engagement among adolescents and young people in conversations around sexual reproductive health, specifically focusing on HIV/AIDS, Gender-based Violence, and Teenage Pregnancies.

The trained champions host a series of advocacy activities in their subcounties, creating awareness and providing support to their peers.

Key Focus Areas

HIV/AIDS Awareness

Educating peers on HIV prevention, testing, treatment, and combating stigma in communities.

Gender-Based Violence

Creating awareness about different forms of GBV, prevention strategies, and support systems for survivors.

Teenage Pregnancy

Providing comprehensive education on reproductive health, contraception, and life skills to prevent unplanned pregnancies.

Our Activities

Peer Education Sessions

Our champions conduct regular peer education sessions in schools, community centers, and youth gatherings to share accurate information about sexual and reproductive health.

Community Outreach

We organize community outreach events to engage with young people who may not be in school, ensuring they have access to vital health information and services.

Youth-Friendly Health Services

Our champions work with local health facilities to create youth-friendly environments where young people can access reproductive health services without fear or stigma.

Digital Advocacy

Using social media and digital platforms, our champions extend their reach to educate and inform young people about their sexual and reproductive health rights.
