Ndoto Program
Creating awareness on social wellbeing of adolescents through education and empowerment
About Ndoto
Ndoto is an initiative by Girl Power Organization targeting adolescent girls and boys in rural areas. The initiative aims at creating awareness on social wellbeing of adolescents through education and empowerment.
How the Ndoto Program Works
Training Phase
Adolescents are trained for a period of 3 months through the comprehensive Ndoto curriculum, receiving guidance from experienced mentors.
Peer Education
After training, participants lead peer education among at least 30 of their peers with supervision from their mentees for a period of 3 months.
Graduation
Participants submit reports of their experience as part of evaluation and graduate through a planned end triple threat campaign ceremony to become Ndoto peer educators in our community.
Ndoto Projects
The Ndoto Program includes several specialized projects to address the diverse needs of adolescents
Ndoto Champs
The NDOTO champs project targets adolescent girls who are teenage mothers, survivors of gender based violence or living with HIV in Tongaren sub-county who are currently out of school and below 24 years.
The goal is to not only offer them education on comprehensive sexual education information, but also social support to ensure that they go back to school or integrate back into the community setting without facing stigma.
Skills Development & Economic Empowerment
Through this project, we also offer skill development and economic empowerment. The champions currently are able to make soap, market and sell them to the local community members to support themselves financially.

In-school Ndoto Project
The in-school NDOTO project seeks to engage adolescent boys and girls aged 14-19 years in schools in rural communities in Bungoma county by offering them the right and accurate information about sex through the Ndoto curriculum.
These involves time with learners to educate them through the different Ndoto topics and mentorship from their peers who are Ndoto champs leading meaningful peer to peer engagement sessions.
Teacher Training
This project also provides teachers with accurate communication information on addressing the triple threat in schools.
Girlpower targets to reach out to 200 schools in rural communities across Bungoma county by December 2025.
Sports for Health
The Sports for Health tournament is a community-driven program under Ndoto aimed at using the power of sports in Tongaren sub-county during holidays to address critical health issues.
During the tournaments we create awareness around the triple threat issues, offer reproductive health checks for the participants and provide commodities that promote safe sex practices.
Annual Event
The tournament is held once each year, bringing together youth from across the region to participate in sports while learning about health and wellness.
